Traffic accident leaves 6 prisoners injured
In the movies, a traffic accident involving a prison detail is usually part of an elaborate escape plan. But in real life, things play out a little differently. Around midday today, a work gang of Minimum Security prisoners accompanied by two guards left Gardenia Village in their Ford Ranger with a trailer in tow to look for bush sticks. But half way there, a slippery and narrow road combined to set the scene for a head-on collision with a Ministry of Works truck. The Ranger took the brunt of the impact, and the six prisoners and their guards escaped with only minor injuries. According to prison officials, all the men were treated at the K.H.M.H. and released into custody this afternoon.
