Albert Getting Hot; Police Called in to Calm Voting Dispute
Earlier we heard about the P.U.P. statement on the deadly volcano that erupted in Guatemala killing as many as sixty persons so far. But the party has been going through internal turmoil and strife during its convention period. Following the fallout due to the disqualification of Patrick Andrews and Arthur Saldivar in the Belmopan constituency, on Friday night, emotions were running high at Independence Hall. Things got out of hand during the vetting of the voter’s list of the Albert Division where senators Paul Thompson and Valerie Woods are contesting in the upcoming convention. One allegation is that Thompson threatened one of Woods’ soldiers. So much so that police were called in to quell the tensions. A complaint was lodged and eventually, cooler heads prevailed. The convention set for later this month is surely to be one to follow.
