Opposition Calls On Belizeans to Help
The death toll continues to rise from Sunday’s eruption of Volcan de Fuego near Antigua, Guatemala, with more than sixty persons confirmed dead and many more feared lost under the lava, hundreds injured and countless others affected. The Opposition People’s United Party has expressed its sorrow and heartfelt solidarity with our western neighbors as they struggle with the terror and misery in the wake of the unexpected eruption. The P.U.P. states, “At a time like this, we must put our differences aside and let our humanity rule. On Sunday, it was Guatemala. Today or tomorrow it can be us or any other country that is susceptible to natural disasters.” It calls on all nations to pray for those who have lost loved ones and provide assistance and on the Belizean government to do everything in its power to render assistance.
