Still no charge for recent Cayo murders
And there are still no arrests for the two latest homicides in the Cayo District and police continue to investigate the deaths of Mennonite farmer, Peter Guenther and Guatemalan national, Juan Carlos Castillo. Guenther, the first murder victim, was shot once to the back of his neck as he arrived at his home in the Green Hills Community on Saturday night. He died on the spot. Guenther’s body was found slouched over the steering of the vehicle, which still had the ignition running and the headlights on. His house was also set on fire. The second victim, Castillo, suffered a much more gruesome slaying. He was decapitated and his body was set on fire at a parcel of land he was hired to clear in Buena Vista. Castillo’s charred remains were discovered on Tuesday morning by the son of his employer, Guillermo Sibrian.
