Junior carnival band holds fundraising pageant

They are well known for their participation in the Carnival Road March every September, and this year the members of Black Pearl will hit the streets once again. Determined to do so in colour and style, the group is holding a special fundraiser this Saturday night when they will crown Little Miss Black Pearl. This afternoon, News 5 caught up with six of the eight contestants.

If it’s one thing Belizeans love, it’s a pageant. And the carnival group Black Pearl is banking on that fact, hoping to raise money for this year’s road march by holding a special competition to crown Little Miss Black Pearl.

“If they don’t come…the others who come and go and tell them that the pageant was well, and I just have to say, tell them that they missed out.”
