2 Mennonite Motorists Perish in a Head-On Collision in Spanish Lookout
Another deadly collision, this time in the Spanish Lookout community, has claimed the lives of one more pair of motorists. It is the second fatal pileup within forty-eight hours, involving persons on motorcycles. Shortly before midday, twenty-year-old Roland Dyck slammed head-on into seventeen-year-old Franz Marten, a welder of Spanish Lookout. The impact of the collision flung both riders off their bikes and onto the road. According to police, Dyck was riding on a red, black and white motorcycle along Bee Lane.
Upon reaching the intersections of routes Ten and Twenty, he crashed into Marten who was traveling in the opposite direction. Their motionless bodies were found approximately twenty-four feet from each other. Both men perished at the scene of the accident. On Wednesday night, Alex Duncan and Mauricio Palma, both of Placencia, also lost their lives when they collided into a parked dump truck on the Placencia Road. Duncan and Palma were riding on separate motorcycles.
