The other shocking murder occurred near Spanish Lookout last Saturday night. We reported on Monday that Peter Guenther, a Mennonite farmer, died instantly when he was shot in his car. No charges have been brought against anyone and police are following all leads. Guenther was slain on Saturday night at about eight o ‘clock as he returned home to Green Hills from a day of work. The fatal shot penetrated the farmer at the back of his neck. He was found by his neighbours slumped inside the vehicle, the keys in the ignition and the headlights of the car were still on. His home was also set on fire. At this stage of their investigations, police believe the murder was not motivated by robbery. Guenther, who is separated from his wife, lived alone. His wife and sixteen year old son were questioned by the police and then released.
