Eastern Division Region One Has New Deputy Commander
Region One of Eastern Division has a new Deputy Commander and he is Superintendent Dwayne Sutherland. Sutherland, who was previously the Commander of the Belmopan Police Formation, has nineteen years of experience. He plans to use his expertise and skills to build upon what Gillett has been doing with community policing in the jurisdiction.

“I am very optimistic in taking up this challenge. I am dedicated and committed in continuing to work with the general public in terms of providing safety and continue with the building of good working relationship with the community. I know this is something that has been started sometime ago. I intend to continue building that type of relationship. As well as to assist the commander of this region in administrative duties in seeing how we can continue to build the morale of the officers and look at their welfare.”

“Well I know for a fact that there is a number of different operations that are going on. One, as I mention that we have a number of community programs where we get the community engage. The community has played an integral part in providing information to us. The other, we have what we call the law enforcement aspect of it where we work with commander operations and their teams within this region and basically target those persons who are likely to commit those crimes.”
Superintendent Sutherland served as the Commander of Belmopan for three months before being transferred to Belize City. He took up his new post on July second.
