Belize to Get Support from International Community

Wilfred ‘Sedi’ Elrington

Five hundred thousand Belize dollars is only a drop in the bucket from the biggest country in the Group of Friends of Belize pushing for a resolution to the claim by the I.C.J.   Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wilfred “Sedi’ Elrington agrees that the contribution is minimal, but says that Belize will be getting resources, both financial and technical, from the international community over the next nine months.

“This is not the only resource that we will be getting. We are in fact getting resources from other areas, other agencies, other countries.”

“So at full roll out, how much will the budget of the education campaign be?”

Wilfred ‘Sedi’ Elrington

“I cannot tell you that off the top of my head. What I can tell you is that it is going to be fully funded. It simply entails giving to Belizeans the history of the dispute, exposing them to the legal arguments…why we think it should be resolved at the I.C.J. and exposing them to the political arguments as to why we think a pacific, peaceful settlement of the I.C.J. will be in the best interest of all Belizeans.”
