Religious reggae rolls into Belize
He’s not the first musician to turn from the secular to the saintly, but few have made the transition as sweetly as the singer who arrived in Belize this afternoon.

In 1997, he was voted the number one performer at Jamaica’s Reggae Sunfest. Today, Cleve “Stitchie” Laing still sings Reggae, but the songs have a different message.
Cleve “Stitchie” Laing
“The message is the good news of Jesus Christ. In a nutshell what really caused me to make the transition is realising, God’s unconditional love for me, and the talent that he gave me or rather the talent that he gives or that I now have, I did nothing to earn it. And so therefore it should be used totally for the glory and the honour of God.”
It is Laing’s first visit to Belize. The performer is in the country for a one-night concert this weekend at the Belize City Centre.
Andre Rivero, Promoter
“The Belizean public could expect nothing of Stitchie, but much of the Holy Spirit, because that is what this whole concert is based on, the word of God, getting the message to our generation, to young people, to the nation of Belize.”
Cleve “Stitchie” Laing
“What we want to transfer, is the message of Jesus Christ, so that there can be a change through transformation. Because that starts from within, when you are convinced that I need to show love to my brother.”

The concert will take place at the Belize City Centre on Saturday. Tickets can be purchased at the door for fifteen and twenty dollars, while students with ID get in for twelve.
