Coastal Executive Officer Shares Plan to Police Islands
It’s been just over a week since Superintendent Reymundo Reyes took over as Coastal Executive Officer of the Police Department with responsibility for La Isla Bonita and La Isla Cariñosa, but stationed as the commander at the San Pedro Police Station. Gun violence and drug trafficking have been hitting hard the prime tourism island. With those challenges at his front door, the new commander says he plans to encourage residents and law enforcement agencies to work together to reduce criminal activities.
Supt. Reymundo Reyes, Coastal Executive Officer
“Coming to the island, we all know that it is an area used for a lot of criminal activities. The water is what is a challenge for us. One of the things we are trying to implement is daily patrols on the lagoon and the sea where we believe that illegal stuff are happening. A next thing is to try to get the police officers attached to this formation to come on board. I believe that if all of us strive for one goal which is to reduce crime here in San Pedro, it could be done. But it cannot be done only by the police, but also it will take part of the community to help us fight crime here in San Pedro.”
