O.W. shop hit by armed robbers
Another Chinese-owned business was robbed by armed bandits, this time in the Orange Walk District. The result, however, was different than that in Belize City. According to police reports, Chin Chen-ku and Kwok Kau-chen were inside the Hong Fua Shop just before nine on Saturday night. According to the businessmen, three masked men, one of them armed with a gun, entered the building and held them up. The mens’ pockets were searched as was the money drawer, allowing the robbers to take close to two thousand dollars in cash and six hundred and fifty dollars in phone cards. The bandits also stole a purse with an unknown quantity of U.S. dollars and a gold ring valued at two hundred dollars. The gunmen then made their escape in a small, light blue car. So far the only physical description available to the public is that one of the men had a gold front tooth. At news time tonight, the trio was still on the loose.
