A Motorcyclist Loses His Life on the Hummingbird Highway
Twenty-three-year-old Alberto Adelfonso lost his live on Sunday in a fatal road traffic accident along the Hummingbird Highway. The Dangriga resident was a riding a motorcycle and upon nearing miles twenty and twenty-one he collided into a commuter bus traveling in the opposite direction. The massive impact extensively damaged the motorbike and flung Adelfonso to his death. Despite being transported to the Southern Regional Hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

“On Sunday, July fifteenth, shortly after 5:20 p.m., police responded to the scene of a road traffic accident between miles twenty and twenty-one on the Hummingbird Highway where upon arrival they observed a bus with its front left portion with damages, whilst on the other side of the highway a vehicle was seen with extensive damages. Initial police investigation revealed that one Ian Hines was driving a bus from a south to north direction when upon reaching between miles twenty and twenty-one on the Hummingbird Highway he observed a motorcyclist coming in the opposite direction who overtook two vehicles and collided into the bus he was driving. He applied brakes but was unable to avoid the collision with the motorcyclist. The motorcyclist’s name was learned to be Albert Adelfonso, twenty-three-years-old of a Dangriga Town address who received severe head and body injuries and was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.”
