KTV the Remix; What It Takes to Keep Your Favourite Singer
Momentum is building up for tonight’s KTV Remix which gets underway at eight-thirty tonight at the Bliss. Now, the show promises to be a nail-biter because this early in the season, there is a tie among two worthy singers who received the same number of votes. Both will be afforded the opportunity to survive and continue in the competition or exit gracefully from the stage. Who will be the tie-breaker? Find out tonight live from the Bliss where all the action takes place. Duane Moody, KTV’s social media host, walks us through what it takes to keep your favorite singer in the show.

“It’s Tuesday and that means it is another round of competition for your favourite entertainment show, KTV the Remix. We are down to eleven performers who will take the stage at the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts; and the genre is country music. Now, how do they get to that point? It’s by you, the voters at home by simply texting the number of votes to your favourite contestant using the Smart Service, 5885.”
Josue Carballo, Product Development Manager, Smart
“For anyone to vote, it is very easy. The technology that Smart provides makes it so easy to do through text messaging. All you have to do is send a text message to the number 5885 which spells out KTV5. So you go and put in the recipient 5885; in the body of your text message, all you have to do is put in the number of votes that you want—remember each vote costs you fifty cents. So say you have five dollars and you want to spend all of that, you would put ten cause it is ten votes that you can get out of your primary credit. You put the number of votes you can, space and then the number of your contestant. I know starting tomorrow, we are going to have eleven contestants left so if I want to send ten votes to contestant number eleven, then I would put ten space eleven and just send it.”
This platform does away with the tedious process of texting individually the amount of votes you want for your favorite contestant in the show.
“Yes, yes, yes. These artists are very popular and they have a lot of support and sometimes someone would want to send a hundred votes for them. In the past you had to send one by one a hundred times. Now to make it convenient and easier, since last year we implemented a new system in which you can send as much votes as you can in accordance with how much primary prepaid credit you have in your phone.”

“So you cannot use your promotional…”
Josue Carballo
“Yes, you cannot use your SMS bundles nor promotional credit. But that’s why a lot of people go out and get sponsorships, buy credit and then through that they will vote. So you can vote as much as you want—to a thousand, two thousand…whatsoever but you are able to do that now with the current system.”
The partnership with the telecommunication company is not by coincidence; they have long been supporters of persons with big talent through their Ambassador programme: Tanya Carter and TR Shine are among some of the music artists, not to mention athletes who have been brand ambassadors for Smart. Product Development Manager Josue Carballo says they continue to be proud sponsors of local talent.
Josue Carballo
“We are proud to be a sponsor of KTV the Remix because this is where we go to find new talent. You know Smart has always been promoting music and culture and talent overall in our Belizean society through our Smart Ambassadors and many of the concerts and events that we sponsor. So by being a part of this, like you all, we are looking forward to seeing who will be the next big star and hopefully the winner could eventually become a Smart ambassador and even more.”
The votes have been tallied and the results are in. But who made it to the top eleven? You would want to tune in or come out to the Bliss tonight because for the first time on record, a tie breaker takes place live on stage to determine who continues in the competition and which two singers will be leaving KTV the Remix.
