Shane Vellos says Cop Broke His Arm!
Shane Vellos says Placencia Police locked him up last Thursday evening because someone named him in a theft. The twenty-one-year-old says that he was wrongly accused and later released without charges, but not before he was beaten inside the police station. According to Vellos, while he was locked down inside the holding cell at the police station, an officer accused him of smoking weed and proceeded to put a beating on him, breaking his left arm. Today, he says that he is not getting any help and wants the officer to be investigated. Vellos alleges that not only did the officer physically injure him, but that he also threatened his life. Vellos recounts the incident.

“All the lick was gonna hit here, so I had to block it and that is where I tool all the pressure. So, after they finished beating me, they put me back into the cell and that was the end of it. He went out and that is when I saw my family came looking for me.”

“How many officers hit you?”

“One officer hit me.”

“Do you know who this officer is and have you ever had any kind of interaction with him before this incident?”

“I have never had anything with him before and I just know him by his name.”

“What did he say when he was hitting you? Did he give any reason to justify his action?”
Shane Vellos
“He didn’t give any kind of reason. He just asked me where the weed is and there was no weed. After they took me out they gave me an unusual search. They made me strip naked and take all my clothes off and they still didn’t find any weed. I was taken to the hospital and I got a medical form to show that the arm was broken. I then went back to the police station to get a new medical form and they gave me one. But when I went to the hospital they didn’t want to send the medical form because the police had already went there and told them not to sign it.”

“A doctor refused to sign it?”

“A doctor refused to sign it from Placencia.”

“Now, they didn’t give you a reason why they didn’t sign it?”
Shane Vellos
“They didn’t give me any reason. They just said that they didn’t sign it because they didn’t want to take it to anything further. All we want and hope is for justice to come out of this because this is not right to let them do this. This is the first time I ever went into the Placencia Police Station and this is what happened.”

“Now, what are they saying about the reason you were taken in – about this accusation against you?”
Shane Vellos
“The accusation against me was false. When I asked them what was my charge was, they didn’t have any charge against me. So, they break this hand with no charge because they didn’t have any charge. And this is wrong. He told me if I know I know of the guy that got shot in San Pedro because he got in a same kind of situation that I am in. And he told me you know what happened to people who go against the police? They die. The police can kill people and they can get away with it. That is what he told me. I am concerned because I know what he told me that police can do anything and get away with it. I watch the news before and I have heard about how many people have been shot by the police and no justice come out of it. The threat that he made, I don’t even know if I can go out of my house because I don’t want anyone to come and try to shoot me or shoot my family.”
