Week Two of Re-registration: 35,951 More Applications Submitted
There are some hitches in the ongoing mass registration exercise, but indications are that the flow of electors is steady. In the week of July eighth and fourteenth, nineteen thousand two hundred and eighty-one persons submitted applications to re-register to vote. This brings the figure to a total of thirty-five thousand nine hundred and fifty-one applications submitted so far to the Elections and Boundaries Department since the mass re-registration exercise started. The department says that the figures indicate a slight increase in the number of persons applying to be registered. For the first week sixteen thousand, six hundred and seventy applications were received. Registration Centers remain open in all thirty-one constituencies until August thirty first. Thereafter, anyone wanting to re-register will need to visit the Elections and Boundaries office in their respective voting area.
