Independence village man scammed out of $10,000
A businessman in Independence Village was scammed out of ten thousand dollars in a land sale gone sour. Forty-eight year old businessman, Fidel Escalante, was offered a parcel of land adjacent to his business on the Savannah Road by Jennifer Murrillo. Jennifer approached Escalante on April twenty-fourth, equipped with a land certificate, verifying that she and Redchro Murrillo owned the land. Escalante paid up ten thousand dollars when he received the documents but when he visited the Lands Department on April twenty-eighth, he was informed that the certificate was fake.
