Armed Thieves Hit Belmopan Business
On Friday afternoon just as the lunch hour expired, armed thieves ambushed a well-known business on Mahogany Street in Belmopan. The cashier at Diversified Life Solutions Office was beaten to a pulp by two men, one armed with a gun, as they demanded that he had over the money from the day’s sales. After enduring several minutes of blunt trauma, the employee would then hand over an undisclosed amount of money to the robbers, who fled from the scene. While their identities are unknown at this time, police say that they are looking at surveillance footage from the area in hopes that it may have captured the culprits on video.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“The cashier reported to them that shortly after one p.m., the office was approached by two dark-complexion male persons wearing peak caps; one of whom was armed with a firearm. As a result, they entered the building and demanded money. During the process, the cashier received injuries as he was beaten up. The culprits then made off with an undisclosed amount of money. Police at this time are following several leads. We do not have any suspects at this time and this investigation is ongoing.”
