Philloughby Says “Check the Stats” on His Election Performance

Philip Willoughby

Willoughby will face-off against Attorney General Michael Peyrefitte, former Deputy Mayor Dean Samuels and Ac. Shane Castillo.  Neither of those names are known for previous door-to-door campaigns within the Port, and Willoughby says he is building relationships with voters.

Philip Willoughby, U.D.P. Candidate, Port Loyola

“I can tell you that I’ve been working and walking in here for some time now and like I said, when you walk into a household and a household can share with you their name their number and they can speak to you in all confidence in sharing with you their concern and what their expectations are and what mine are for the area then you know you’ve started building the camaraderie that needs to be built.  You then know that you are building up on your familiarization with the constituency to the extent that I want to reach is that all of us within the constituency become family and there is not this disconnect from the political to office, or myself and the constituency.  And that is the formula that makes politicians lose their constituents, you know, when you disconnect yourself from the people.  No matter the challenges, no matter the circumstances, you cannot disconnect from the people. Going back to the Albert constituency, I was a team player all the way in that, in that regard.  I stepped aside and I supported.  We went to the municipal convention, I went in basically on my own, with two reps being neutral, and in that regard I showed that the people had love for me but still I got votes out of the other constituencies that didn’t supported myself but the people believed.  You saw my numbers at the convention, then if you were to look at my numbers at the election, you see the turnaround when people power and they have control of the destiny of who they want, I still topped the UDP slate with the numbers.”
