Michael Peyrefitte Wants to Represent Port Loyola for the U.D.P.
During our interview with the Attorney General, Michael Peyrefitte, we asked him about this decision to re-enter the political arena. As we have been reporting, Peyrefitte is aspiring to be the U.D.P.’s Standard Bearer for the Port Loyola Constituency and is facing three other contenders including Philip Willoughby. According to Peyrefitte, his decision to run for politics was made after the voters of Port Loyola asked him to do so.
Michael Peyrefitte, Standard Bearer Aspirant, U.D.P.
“There has been a request to me by the residents of the division. Several people have come to me saying that they heard Minister Martinez would be retiring and that the Port Loyola Division will be opening up and they asked to seriously think about whether or not I would consider representing them. I thought about it, consulted with my family. They gave me their reluctant blessing and I decided to re-enter electoral politics.”

“Do you see Philip Willoughby as a formidable opponent?”
Michael Peyrefitte
“Absolutely, Philip has been a councilor for so long, very likable individual. I love Philip. It is very difficult not to like Philip. So is Mr. Samuels and so is Mr. Castillo. I do not want to disrespect my other two opponents by just signaling out Philip but indeed we are a united democratic party. The division belongs to nobody. Mr. Martinez is stepping down. Anyone who wants to challenge can challenge. We just have a convention and when the convention is finished the people would have decided who they want to represent them and all four of us will have to respect the results no matter what it is.”
