Reainard Ferguson Charged for the Murder of Samuel Cosme

Investigators believe that thirty-three-year-old Reainard Randey Ferguson killed Samuel Cosme. He is accused of fatally stabbing Cosme whose body was found on a dirt road off the Philip Goldson Highway near the Haulover Bridge early on Monday morning. The forty-three-year-old Belize City resident was stabbed to the chest, abdomen, back, and hand. Initially, a woman who was in Cosme’s company at the time of his murder had been detained for questioning. That woman has reportedly assisted in the investigation and has been released. Head of Belize City’s Crimes Investigation Branch, A.S.P. Alejandro Cowo, says that Ferguson will be arraigned for murder on Friday.

“The police has done significant advance in that investigation. Thanks to the cooperation of the public we have been receiving good information and a result a male person has been detained. He is presently in custody and we have hope that he will be charged sometime before the end of the day today.”

“Is his female friend, for want of a better word, still being looked at as a suspect or accomplice in the murder of Mr. Cosme?”

“She is a person who has been with us as soon as we find out exactly wh o she was. We were able to speak to her where we got good information leading to this good investigation as this time.”

“I’ll ask is plainly. Did she as has been suggested orchestrate a hit on Mr. Cosme?

“The investigation is not showing anything that she set with the man or lured that area. There is nothing in the investigation that she is putting out to that suggestion. What we know is that to that day, there were at that location by the street by the Haulover when their vehicle was stuck by the roadside and they had asked for assistance to pull out the vehicle. That is when they were in contact with a male person. That is when that male person went and assist them and there something happen that led to the death of Mr. Cosme.”

Investigators believe that Cosme’s murder was a crime of opportunity. Ferguson was dragged to Magistrate court this evening to answer for another charge. Ferguson was charged with escape from lawful custody, but that did not hold up in court.
