Local Farmers and Producers Onboard with SICA Agriculture Initiative

According to Hulse, Belize’s agro-productive sector is fully onboard with the SICA initiative. The visiting ministers were also given a tour of facilities in the Spanish Lookout and stopped in for a visit at the plant of the renowned pepper sauces in southern Belize.

“Does this have buy-in from other members of the agriculture sector, I guess for Belize since we are the pro tem host?”

“Oh yes, absolutely.  In fact, yesterday, we had an excellent tour of some of the processing facilities for chicken, for ice cream, for grains and we invited the private sector.  Of course, you know my whole mantra is to bring the private sector along.  So we had Mrs. Marie Sharp there from Marie Sharp’s, of course everybody knows her worldwide now.  We had people from the cattle, we had people from the grain and all that and so we do have buy-in fully from our agriculture private sector in this country.”
