Additional Details Emerge in the Tragic Story of Antwone Marin

Antwone Marin

The National Committee for Families and Children has issued a release on the tragic passing of young Antwone Marin who died by suicide inside his parents’ bedroom in Seine Bight Village.  The frightening incident happened on Monday evening while his siblings were getting their hair braided by a babysitter in the living room of their residence.  N.C.F.C. joins One Struggle in offering its deepest sympathies to the Marin family, but also urges parents to listen to their children and take seriously any demonstration of self-hurt or depression and seek assistance from a counselor.  There is more from Antwone’s grieving father who, in an interview, opened up to News Five’s Isani Cayetano about the tragedy that has befallen his family.  Here is that story.

The death of seven-year-old Antwone Marin in Seine Bight Village on Monday, is much talked about in public discourse.  The circumstances surrounding the taking of his life have once again brought into sharp focus the issue of suicide.  Notwithstanding various initiatives to train persons in suicide prevention, the acute situation involving the minor has taken everyone by surprise, including his loved ones.  Antwone’s father, in an interview with News Five, says the last time he saw his son alive was on Monday afternoon.
