Henry Canton to resign as minister
In other news from the Ministry of Works of perhaps a different kind of flood, late this evening we have confirmed that Minister of Works Henry Canton will be stepping down from his present position as early as September. Canton has worked out an agreement with Prime Minister Said Musa to remain area representative for Stann Creek West until general elections in 2003, but will not seek re-election. In a telephone conversation, Canton says the instabilities in the citrus industry has forced him to reconsider his priorities. Before and during his political career, Canton was been very much involved in the development of the citrus industry and it is believed he will return to play a large role in the industry.
