Chester Williams Says That Cops Are on Top of the Robberies
A total of one hundred and fifty robberies were reported for the first six months of 2018. This is an increase of fifty-two robberies when compared to the same period in 2017. The total figure, however, has increased significantly since June. In the past month, we have been reporting on a number of armed robberies that have taken place across the country. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, who is in charge of Operations for the Police Department, says that there is a strategy to deal with the problem.

“As the Commander of Operations, what sort of operations or measures are there in place now that we have seen an extraordinary increase of these sort of armed robberies?”
Chester Williams, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations)
“I am not going to spew our operational strategy, but I can tell you that we are doing what we can to be able to deal with those situations. And you can appreciate the fact that no matter how many police we put on the streets, the criminals will always try to find a way to operate. But what we have put in place has been effective so that every time they strike, we are there to catch them. I will say this loud and clear, as a department we will continue to vigorously pursue those persons who want to be out there and relieve persons of their hard earned property. And whenever they are caught, we are going to do what we can to ensure that the matter is well investigated, well put together and taken before a court of law where their fate will be decided.”
According to figures from the Crime Observatory, there have been fifty-four arrests for robberies up until June 2018.
