National Anti-Doping Organization in Belize is Suspended
There is grave news tonight that affects the sporting associations. That is that the National Anti-Doping Organization in Belize has been suspended in the wake of the recent case against Brandon Cattouse. Doctor Michael Pitts sits on the Regional Anti-Doping Board, but he has failed to attend meetings for the past three years. For that reason, NADO Belize has been suspended, even though Doctor Pitts was reappointed three weeks ago as NADO’s representative. A meeting of the National Olympic and Commonwealth Games Committee and Government representatives will meet to discuss the way forward. The regional body informed G.O.B. that a formal request must be made to remove the sanction and commit to undertake requirements that weren’t being fulfilled. RADO also believes that enough is not being done to combat doping in sports in Belize.
