PACT awards scholarships in conservation
The Protected Areas Conservation Trust, PACT, celebrated its seventh anniversary today. To commemorate the occasion, PACT awarded scholarships to four Belizean students to pursue degrees in natural resources management and conservation. The recipients are Carren Williams, who will seek her Bachelor’s Degree in biology at the University of Belize, Percival Cho, who will study towards a Bachelor’s in forest resources conservation at Clemson University in South Carolina, Emil Cherrington, who will work towards a Master’s Degree in natural resources planning and management at the University of Washington and Carolyn Trench, who will study for her Master’s Degree in environmental law and management at the University of Wales in the United Kingdom. In all, the scholarships are worth a total of forty thousand Belize dollars. Upon completion of their studies, the recipients will be expected to work at least two years in Belize.
