Wounded robbery suspect still in hospital
In a follow-up to yesterday’s shooting of an armed robber by a Belize City shopkeeper, Ursilo Mendoza remains under guard in the K.H.M.H. as he tries to recover from a chest wound. Mendoza was shot by forty-nine year old Wai Tat-don after he allegedly tried to hold up Wai’s store on Baymen Avenue. Witnesses tell police that Mendoza first attempted to shoot Wai, but his gun jammed and Wai fired back. Mendoza will be charged with robbery if and when he recovers from his wounds.
