Decomposed, decapitated body found in river
The badly decomposed body of an unidentified man was found this morning in the Belize River just upstream of the Haulover Bridge. The corpse, clad only in blue pants, was missing its head and one arm. A post-mortem conducted this afternoon found the cause of death to be drowning. Police believe the victim had been dead for at least three days and a high level of alcohol was found in his blood. They did not find signs of foul play and theorise that a crocodile may have eaten the missing head and arm. The body was buried today, but photographs were taken and anyone who can help identify the corpse is asked to call the police.
