Woman shot five times in Belize City!

Dawn Parchue

There were a number of shootings in the city on Friday. A Belize City mother of one was one of the shooting victims.  She was hit five times just after midnight, but luckily she survived. Police say that they are looking for one person of interest. According to the authorities, Dawn Parchue may have been shot because of an altercation she had earlier that Friday night. Parchue’s name was in the news in 2013 when she was involved in a fight with another woman in the city. That fight was caught in video and went viral. Andrea Polanco tells us more about the latest city shooting involving Parchue.

Dawn Parchue was riding her bike along Croton Lane just after twelve on Saturday morning – when she got into an argument with a man who took out a gun and fired five shots at her – four to the chest-abdomen area and once to the leg. Police say Parchue was involved in an altercation at an establishment on Mahogany Street just minutes before the attempt on her life.

“She was at a restaurant where there was an altercation between her and another friend and other persons that were at the restaurant. And that is from where the incident occurred and then it went on to Croton Lane.”

While the bullets were intended to take Parchue’s life,  they didn’t stop her at this intersection– she continued on her bike until she go to her family’s house a few yards down the street.  Parchue’s aunt told us that her niece went to pick up some money and she was on her way back when she was attacked. They say she’s well known in the neighborhood – and have no idea why someone would try to kill her.
