Two guns seized in Belmopan
One aspect of the recent upsurge in violent crime is the proliferation of illegal firearms. Authorities have been targeting this problem and over the last week have produced some results. The most recent bust occurred Sunday in Belmopan when police searched a home in the Cohune Walk neighbourhood of the capital. There they found a pair of unlicensed nine millimetre Glocks along with fifteen rounds of ammunition. Three people in the house at the time have been arrested including one resident of the house: forty-seven year old Maurice Flowers, and two visitors from Belize City: twenty-two year old Nigel Neal and twenty-five year old Velda Burgess Neal. All three have been charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
