San Cas U.B. defeat O.W. Music Centre in blow-out

Story Picture
Good evening I’m James Adderley and you’re a welcomed part of this dish of Sports Monday. Making its third appearance in this year’s Capital Life Basketball competition, the defending champion San Cas U.B. hosted Orange Walk’s Music Centre Friday night at the Belize City Centre. With both teams going in with a record of one win, one loss, who would break out of five hundred ball.

Well it’s the visitors off to a quick start, initiated by this triple from Kevin Domingo. Next, it’s Mark Bainton with the penetration, the conversion and the foul, but he would brick the freebie. But back to the “big dog”, and he seems real comfortable with his range from long distance; you all know him as Kevin Domingo.

Down by seven, the champs get going. Serrano wants three and he gets three. Kevin Seroki then introduced his new highflying teammate Jeff Clinton of the U.S. to the City Centre’s rims and he gets going.

Meanwhile, this defensive plat by Albert Diaz on Serrano runs the U.B. guard to boiling point and this thrown punch relegates him out of the ballgame.

Belizean-American Clinton Fuller then breaks the 26 apiece tie with this 3-pointer.

You remember Jeff Clinton. Well he finally displays his aerial acrobatics with this monster move. And at the half the college is up by three points.

However, people for the O.W. team it was a tale of two halves and the second half brought a total collapse of the visitors–this is after Anthony Tench gives them a one point lead with this ticklish two.

The U.B. run begins when Leroy Forbes leaves it short and Jeff Clinton finished. Clinton Lamb weaves his way through traffic and the lead begins to grow.

Kevin Seroki comes up with this steal, finds Clinton Fuller, and he slams it home. This time Seroki deals to Darren Bovell and this one is way too easy folks. For certain this wasn’t a planned execution, but Darren Bovell does give it legitimacy.

Alex Tillett them takes time during this blowout to highlight his skills as U.B. schools O.W. Music Centre in an 88-66 final score.

Coming this Friday to the City Centre, the Raiders will host O.W. Music Centre.

Turning to the cricket scene, we checked in Saturday on the Zone Two divisional championships at Bermudian Landing featuring Sunrise of Lord’s Bank and Taleban of Lemonal. We caught up with the action after Sunrise had gone 149 runs for 10 wickets.

All Sunrise has to do is shut down the Taleban bats. And Harrison Parks get the first wicket by forcing this pop up.

Belize, meet a real bowler. His name is Broaster and he blows batters away. You say you don’t believe it, well Broaster will make you a believer as he mows down this batter.

The fourth out comes when the Taleban batsman, Muslar, smacks the ball into his own the wicket. And yes, Taleban was shut down with only 75 runs for 10 wickets, and are left out of the playoffs.

The playoffs begin this Saturday with Bermudian Landing hosting Gardenia, and we hope to bring you images of this particular confrontation.

That’s it for now, we certainly want to thank our cameraman for their great work over the weekend. Jah over all, I’m James Adderley.
