Guatemalan plane bound for Belize crashes and kills all six
We begin tonight’s newscast with a very tragic story. This evening, a small plane bound for Belize, crashed on take-off from the Aurora airport in Guatemala City. The plane, a Piper Azteca, is part of the fleet of Aeroservicios, a Guatemalan company. Shortly after takeoff, at a quarter to three this afternoon, the aircraft plunged into a residential area, killing all six persons on board. Four of the passengers are professors at the Francisco Maroquin University. They are Claudia Porras de Araneda, Juan Brenes, Helmuth Wintzer, and Joseph Godoy. The two others have been identified as Hector Ramos and the pilot, Rafael Araneda. It is not known what led to the tragedy, nor the purpose of the visit to Belize. We will have more on this story tomorrow.
