Anti-Drug Operations Underway in Northern Belize
The online posts have caused the Ministry of National Security, specifically the Belize Police Department, to kick into gear. Operations Commander Chester Williams told News Five today that along with the B.D.F., the police are conducting operations across Orange Walk and Corozal carrying out searches at the homes of purported drug dealers in northern Belize. Today, another operation was carried out and several persons were detained.

“What we are doing now is to launch intense operations in the Orange Walk and Corozal districts with a view to deter those persons who are involved. We are going after those who we believe are involved as well as other persons who may be involved in other illegal activities in the Orange Walk District. As you know, we do have recently a gang flare up where persons have been killed and those are issues as well that we are addressing as part of our operations. We have another ongoing operation today again in the Orange Walk and Corozal districts. We have detained some persons, investigation is being conducted and they will be interviewed to ascertain certain information and at the end of our investigation, if there is nothing against them, they will be released and if we would come up with anything that will lead to them being charged for any offence, then that will be done as well.”
