Motorist charged in pedestrian’s death
In Benque Viejo a taxi driver has been arrested in connection with the fatal knockdown of a pedestrian. On Sunday night around 9:30, thirty-one year old Miguel Medina was driving west on the Western Highway when about a quarter mile from the border he ran into a man staggering on the road. That man, fifty-three year old Ramon Contreras, a farmer of Benque Viejo, was rushed to the San Ignacio Hospital, but was dead on arrival. Medina has been charged with manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct and driving without due care and attention.
