Orange Walk man wins record lotto jackpot

They say that all good things must come to an end, but this ending was a happy one–at least for one man who this afternoon cashed in a record lotto ticket. Ann-Marie reports.

Lady luck smiled on Orange Walk Town when Edward McKoy, a fifty-two year old employee of B.S.I., won the one hundred and fifteen thousand dollar lotto. The winning numbers are 2, 4, 18, 29 and 30.

“I get to know, finalised it this morning, but I heard it from last night. But due to the controversy, I had to the eight and the eighteen and I wasn’t sure, so I went to check this morning and I found out that it was eighteen.”

“How did you feel?”

Edward McKoy

“Well I feel great because I got some need for the money.”

McKoy maintains that the money will come in handy as he’s in the process of educating his four children.

Edward McKoy

I have mi children going to school, I need fi educate them. Mi daughter just graduate from fourth form, going to sixth form. I have a boy that’s cripple, he need to get some international medication and we no have the money for that, so I think this will help us too.”

Although McKoy always dreamt of winning the lotto, this time when he purchased the two tickets with selected numbers, he didn’t make plans for the money.

“I have to plan first what I wah do with this money, cause its something sudden, I never got plans for it. but like I said, mi first priority is my children’s education and my son that’s sick. From there I have to go to my drawing board.”

After paying fifteen percent of his winnings in taxes, McKoy took home just under ninety-eight thousand dollars.
