Murder suspect freed after prosecution drops charge

Story PictureA man accused of murder walked free today when the case for the prosecution fell apart. Twenty-seven year old Delford Slusher spent two years in jail but Justice Adolph Lucas directed that he be released in the Supreme Court.
Slusher, also known as “Peter”, was accused of fatally shooting Jose Noe Barrow but the chief witness in the case, Tom Jones, was a no show in court. Crown Counsel Trienia Young entered a nolle prosequi, indicating that the prosecution would not proceed. Slusher was represented by Attorney Michael Peyrefitte. The murder dates back over two years when on December fourth, 2006. Barrow allegedly got into a misunderstanding with two men over drugs found at sea. Reports are that Barrow drew his pistol and fired a shot that missed. But when one of the men returned fire, five bullets found their mark in Barrow’s head. Police found his body in an abandoned house at Conch Shell Bay. A second suspect, Leonardo Cassanova, was also charged in connection with the incident, but he was freed last year.
