Two robberies, one burglary, no arrests
An elderly businessman from Roaring Creek has reported being robbed at gun and knifepoint. According to seventy-five year old Hsi Hong, around 11:00 on Monday night, he was inside his bar with three customers when two masked men, armed with a nine millimetre pistol and knife respectively, burst into the room. Hsi says the bandits ordered everyone to lie on the floor, while they ransacked the place. The thieves found five hundred dollars in cash and two hundred dollars in Lotto scratch tickets. Up to news time tonight, no arrests had been made.
Hopefully, he’s been given a replacement weapon to use tonight because on Monday, a Belize City security guard was robbed at gunpoint, for his revolver. According to forty-year-old Israel Dominguez, he was working at a site on Racoon Street extension when two men pointed a gun at him and took away his thirty-eight. Police have yet to make any arrests, but they are hoping to question a man identified as “Snoop Dog” of a Neal Pen Road address.
Thieves might have been busy all around on Monday night, but it seems this next set walked away empty handed. According to the management of Maya Island Air, sometime between close of business on Monday and start up this morning, a thief or thieves broke into their offices through a window on the second floor of their building at the municipal airstrip and ransacked the place. Apparently, besides making a mess and disturbing electronic communications, the intruders found only administrative documents and files–no cash–in the two safes. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the police.
