Theft suspects arrested in Orange Walk
Orange Walk police have arrested and charged two Belize City men after they threatened the life of a four year old child in order to steal from his mother. According to twenty-nine year old Hilma Chinchilla, around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May fifteenth, two men came to her door asking for water. She decided to give them, and left the room to get it. Chinchilla, glasses of water in hand, came back and was shocked to see that one of the men had grabbed her four-year-old son and put a knife to his neck. The men demanded money and the terrified mother handed over two thousand dollars in cash and jewelry. The men let go of the child and at that point, Chinchilla grabbed one of them, successfully holding on to her jewelry. Apparently satisfied with the cash, the men simply ran away leaving the traumatised family behind. Orange Walk police would later arrest two men, identified as Norman Tingling a forty-three year old resident of Rose Lane and forty-year-old Errol White of an Oleander Street address. The two will face charges of aggravated burglary when they appear before a magistrate.
