An Attempted Rape in Corozal
Police also reported today on an attempted rape in Corozal. A Hispanic man is in custody tonight pending charges of assault of a female minor in San Andres, Corozal. On Sunday night, a seventeen-year-old girl was riding a bicycle near the Corozal Community College auditorium when she was attacked. According to the minor, she was shoved off her bicycle, but was saved by a Good Samaritan who saw what was happening.

“Shortly after seven-thirty p.m., police responded to a report of an attempted rape in San Andres Village in the vicinity of the Rudolph Wade Auditorium where upon arrival a seventeen-year-old minor who was at the time accompanied by a six-year-old riding a bicycle in that area was pushed off her bicycle by a Hispanic male person. He then attempted to tear off her clothes; however a female who was in the area came to her assistance and the assailant fled the area. Police investigations have led to the detention of three persons; one of whom has been positively identified as the person who committed this act. He is detained pending charge.”
