Woman tied up, robbed at Bz. City home
It’s every woman’s nightmare…but for one young Belize City woman, the experience was all too real. On Sunday night twenty-nine year old Lauren Ciego was sleeping inside her home on Fern Lane when she was awakened by the sound of her bedroom door being pushed open. Ciego says by the time she sat up, a man had jumped on top of her. The assailant then blindfolded Ciego and proceeded to tie her hands and feet. She was aware that there were at least two men inside her house because as one of them held her down, she could hear the other going through her belongings as if he was looking for something. According to Ciego, the men remained silent until they could not find any money. That’s when one of them asked her where she keeps the cash. When she answered, they quickly grabbed what they could and left. Ciego says the men gained access into her home through a back window and left through the front door. A quick check of the house revealed that the robbers took a cell phone and jewelry valued at around six thousand dollars. At this time the police say they have no suspects, but believe the intruders may be from the neighbourhood.
