Two Corozal men killed gangland style
Two men from Corozal are dead, believed to have been killed by a man who chartered their boat for a trip to San Pedro. Twenty-seven year old tour operator Jose Majil and his brother in law, Alejandro Arevalo, left Corozal around midday Monday in a white skiff named “Baby Girl”. The man who chartered the boat, described only as a stocky Hispanic with clear complexion and curly hair, asked to be taken to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. It is not known exactly when the boat reached the island, but on Monday afternoon police were called to the Boca Chico area at the caye’s southern tip, where they found Majil’s body floating in the water. He had been shot in the abdomen. Also found nearby was the skiff and its one hundred and fifty horsepower engine along with three expended forty-five-calibre shells lying on the floor of the hull. This morning police found Arevalo’s body nearby, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Police believe that both men were shot in the boat and tossed overboard. As for the motive, that is as unclear as the whereabouts of the murderer. This type of killing usually leaves the scent of drugs or money and tonight police in Corozal and San Pedro are ruling out nothing.
