Is house being built in St. Michaels school yard?

Story PictureThere is a developing story reaching News 5 that a private house is being built on land that may be the property of a Belize City government school behind the Racoon Street Police Station. The land in question was originally owned by businessman Darrell Carter, who years ago sold it to the government of Belize. And on that property, the new St. Michael’s College was built. In addition to the high school, former PUP Housing Minister Richard “Dickie” Bradley also oversaw the construction of a swimming pool for the Queen’s Square community behind the school yard. It is between the defunct swimming pool and the school yard that a concrete bungalow is being constructed. The groundwork for a fence to be placed between the pool and the house is also underway. We are unable to confirm whether or not the portion of land has been subdivided and fallen in private hands, but students still use the area in front of the house to exit the school compound. Sources say the house is the property of a very colorful UDP supporter.
