B.T.B. Takes the Local Media on Tour
The Belize Tourism Board is hosting its annual familiarization trip. It is an opportunity for the local media to experience Belize’s tourism offerings and tell you all about the exciting time they had. It is an effort to push local tourism to the fore, particularly during the slow season and it is also a time when many of the local tourism businesses offer great deals for Belizeans to experience the country. On this trip, the reporters are visiting western Belize, where they will zip line, cave-tube, learn how to make chocolate and eat like the people in the west do. Our reporter Hipolito Novelo joined other local journalists for the three-day experience that kicked off today at Jaguar Paw. Here’s a sneak peek at the start of today’s activities:
Mike Hernandez, PR Officer, B.T.B.
“Today’s trip is basically part of our annual familiarization tour which we give the local media the opportunity to be able to experience firsthand the attractions, the facilities available. On this trip, we are going to the western region of Belize, basically the San Ignacio area. As a part of the trip, we are doing some cave tubing here at Cave tubing Adventures, zip lining and there is quite a lot of other activities. From here we are moving on to San Ignacio to visit some resorts, and we will doing some activities at Chaa Creek, for example. We will also be visiting the San Antonio’s women’s group and that will give us an opportunity to see how they prepare their traditional food in Maya tradition, as well as some pottery. We are doing sessions in chocolate making, and actual tours of the cacao farms. It’s quite an exciting weekend packed with adventure, lots of activities and the main objective is to give you guys firsthand the experience to see the developments in the industry but also for you guys to be able to experience and enjoy what is happening.”
We’ll have full reports from the trip during next week’s newscasts.
