4 year old dies in fall from horse cart

On Tuesday, a four-year-old child lost her life in a horse and cart accident in the Orange Walk District. According to police, around 7:30 Tuesday morning, four year old Elizabeth Harms and her seven year old brother were at home in Indian Creek Village playing on their buggy. But apparently, the brakes became unhinged causing the cart to hit the horse, sending him into a frenzy. Little Elizabeth panicked as the horse took off and decided to jump off. The child sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to the Orange Walk Hospital where authorities declared her dead on arrival. A post-mortem has revealed she died due to extensive skull fractures.
