Did mom sell daughters as sex slaves?

Story Picture
There are few crime reports that still have the power to shock the Belizean public, but accusations being levelled against a Belize City man have even the police shaking their heads. Based on reports from sisters aged twelve and thirteen, a seventy-four year old retired businessman has been detained since Tuesday night. His alleged crime? The girls say that John Majarrez of number six Vernon Street purchased them from their mother for the purpose of sex. According to police, the twelve-year-old says that the thirteen-year-old was repeatedly raped and when she tried to help her older sister, Majarrez pulled out a silver handgun, threatening to kill them if they told anyone. The youngster also reports that her eight-year-old sister has similarly been sold to Majarrez, but was returned by the man as too young. It is understood that Majarrez will soon be charged, and that the mother, a Salvadoran immigrant, is also in police custody. A search of the Majarrez residence resulted in the discovery of a loaded twenty-five calibre chrome revolver.
