Body found by banana farm remains unidentified

Placencia police are still trying to determine the identity of a man found dead in the drain near a banana plantation. Employees from Sagitun Banana Farm reported to police that on Saturday they found a man laying face up in one of the drains on the property with several injuries to his head and showing no signs of life. Police transported the body to the Southern Regional Hospital where officials declared him dead on arrival. News 5 understands that the man was a vendor, possibly from across the border, who was on the banana farm selling his wares to workers when he was attacked by men plying the same trade. Police have already detained three men for questioning, but up to news time tonight no arrests had been made.
