New charges possible in P.G. newborn’s death
In crime news, late findings in the case of a newborn baby found dead on Monday in a Punta Gorda latrine may result in additional charges against the baby’s mother. A post-mortem concluded that the child died of asphyxia due to drowning, meaning that the baby was born alive. Police have forwarded these findings to the Director of Public Prosecutions, who could recommend that murder or manslaughter charges be added to the concealment of birth charge already brought against the mother, twenty-four year old Juliana Choc of Santa Elena Village.
