A German National is Raped and Robbed in Cayo District, One Man is Detained

Thirty-one-year-old Sharn Vanegas has been arrested and charged for the rape of a German national who reported to police that she was sexually assaulted by a pair of men with whom she caught a ride on Friday night.  According to Assistant Superintendent Alejandro Cowo, both men were riding on separate motorcycles when they took the woman to a secluded area of Teakettle Village where they allegedly raped and robbed her.

“She reported that on Friday, just after ten p.m., she asked for a ride from a male person and she jumped on a motorcycle from San Ignacio and made her way to Belmopan.  There were two sets of riders on separate motorcycles and whilst they were coming to San Ignacio, they stopped by Teakettle, in an area where allegedly two male persons had sex with her against her will.  Those persons, I believe they were detained, one of them was detained and I think that they will be charged either this morning or later on today.”
