U.D.P. Edmond Castro Speaks on I.C.J. Referendum
While there is a chorus for a ‘YES’ vote in line with the Prime Minister’s position, we did find today an elected representative who hasn’t made up his mind. Whne we asked U.D.P. area representative for Belize Rural North, Edmond Castro, for his take on the I.C.J. referendum, he says he is waiting to see what Guatemala is offering.
Edmond Castro, Area Rep., Belize Rural North
“The Ministry of foreign Affairs are doing a very good job in terms of roving around the country to educate people on the facts of I.C.J., why should we go, why should we go. I encourage all the people of my constituency to, before you decide whether you going for a yes or a no, get the facts, get the education and then you will be able to make a more informed decision on how you will vote.”
Hipolito Novelo
“Sir, have you made up your mind as yet? Are you pro-I.C.J.? I am not sure if they have asked you this before.”
Edmond Castro
“I think they have asked before and I have said that I will need to get the information and the facts on the I.C.J.; what the Guatemala is offering, what Belize is offering. What is their point. What is our point? And I am still in the process of getting all the facts from both sides so I can make an informed decision.”
